Game battle royale Free Fire memenangkan penghargaan kategori "Mobile Game of the Year" dalam ajang Esports Awards 2021.
Penghargaan itu adalah kedua kalinya Free Fire memenangkan penghargaan Mobile Game of the Year, setelah menerima penghargaan yang sama pada 2020 lalu.
Esports Awards 2021 sendiri adalah ajang tahunan yang digelar untuk mengapresiasi seluruh tokoh di industri game dan e-sports di seluruh dunia.
Di kategori Mobile Game of the Year tahun ini, Free Fire berhasil mengalahkan sejumlah game mobile populer lainnya yang masuk ke dalam nominasi, yang tentunya rutin menggelar kompetisi e-sports.
Beberapa di antaranya mencakup Arena of Valor, PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile, Clash Royale, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Brawl Stars, dan Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
“Saya dan seluruh tim Garena merasa terhormat dan senang telah memenangkan penghargaan ini. Kami mendedikasikan kemenangan tersebut untuk komunitas global Free Fire, para pemain, penonton, dan partners," ujar Esports Global Manager Garena, Justin Lye.
Selain level internasional, Free Fire juga menerima penghargaan lainnya di kancah nasional sebagai “Game Esports Terfavorit” oleh Indonesian Esports Awards 2021.
Penghargaan ini juga merupakan kedua kalinya untuk game battle royale tersebut, dan tentunya semakin memperkuat posisi Free Fire sebagai game e-sports paling diminati di Indonesia, begitu juga di seluruh dunia.

Kembali lagi ke Esports Awards 2021, selain kategori Mobile Game of the Year, ada beberapa penghargaan di kategori lainnya dalam ajang yang digelar secara tahunan tersebut.
Kategori "Game of the Year", misalnya, dimenangkan oleh game peperangan dengan elemen taktis populer besutan Riot Games, Valorant. Sebagai pengembang game, Riot Games sendiri tahun ini membawa pulang dua penghargaan Esports Awards 2021, yaitu di kategori "Publisher of the Year" dan "Broadcast/Production Team of the Year".
